Question : Problem: CPU fan error PC will automatically shutdown
I have HP Pavillion a630n with american megatrends bios....I replaced 4-pin CPU fan with a direct connect fan to power supply. I want to bypass hardware monitoring sensors or be able to turn off hardware fan monitoring because new fan is directly connected to power. HP support is worthless and want to send everyone to Authorized Service Provider to pay big $$ to fix. All I want to do is have PC ignore hardware monitoring of CPU fan so it can boot into Windows and get on with life. Here is main problem....I can toggle F1 key to get into BIOS setup but Hardware Monitoring section on Advanced Page is greyed out and shows CPUfan RPMs at zero. I don't have ability to enable function or disable.

Go buy a 4 pin fan. Even if you manage to bypass, when that fan dies, so will your CPU.
