Question : Problem: How can I make SATA hard disk bootable?
I had 2 IDE hard disks with winXP Pro (SP2) installed on one of them. Now that they are nearly full, I bought a SATA (Seagate 320Gb) and want to boot from it. I also bought a PCI controller card for SATA hard disk and prepared a floppy disk with driver in there so as to install winXP Pro. Done! The problem, however, is that I can't make it bootable. I looked around BIOS to set the 1st boot device but I can't find any SATA or SCSI. It seems my mobo (AsRock P4S61) is too old, so it does not support SATA ? Any possible solution would be appreciated.

If it was software based, then tricks would work but this is hardware . But you may try this Instaal a boot loader on your IDE drive. Pc will boot to boot loader and then you should select the OS whic is located in HDD drive on pci controller. BootIT NG and Acronis some of the advanced boot loaders i know.
