Question : Problem: Flashlight Hack Desired

I'm looking for a way to assign the side convenience key to turn the LED flash on my 8820 on at will for use as a flashlight.

Anyone done this?

I've been told this is not possible, but I know if anywhere, the capability exists in this community.
