Question : Problem: Onboard RAID (SIL 3112): What to do if it crashes?

Hi experts

Fortunately, it's just a theoretical question.
if my onboard-raid controller is damaged and I buy a PCI Raid-Controller with the SIL3112 chipset (the same as the onboard-controller), will I be able to save the data from the RAID somehow?

Thanks

Same family meaning you can probably get away with using a newer SiL chipset to read a volume created by an older one.

But so long as you're using RAID 1 / mirroring, it's of minimal concern.  Your drive should work just fine when not attached to a RAID controller.
