Question : Problem: Memory unrecognized?

Hi everyone...I'm trying to upgrade the memory of an IBM Aptiva 2162 SC3. It originally had 32MB of PC66 SDRAM in 1 of 2 slots. I replaced the memory with two 32MB of new PC66 SDRAM(2 of 2) with the result of the BIOS detecting only 16MB total. Running Win98, latest drivers, flashed the latest BIOS, still will see only 16MB. Is this a density problem? The only difference I can find is the physical layout of the chips: original(8), new(4) chips per module. Thanks for any insights...T

For memory that is guaranteed to be compatible, see:

I have been using Crucial exclusively for several years now, with zero problems. I highly recommend it.
