Question : Problem: What is the difference between ARCServe VSS and the Backup Agent for Open Files
We are installing ARCServe 12 on our network and I want to makes sure open files get backed up.
There is suprisingly little documentation on the CA site about what clients to install where for which purposes.
I need to know if I need the Backup Agent for Open files or just the Windows Client Agent.
I see in the VSS options on the server console that I have the option to enable VSS to back up open files.
Does this allow me to back up open files with the Windows Client alone or do I need to have the Open files agent.
Lastly, if I do need the Open Files agent should I leave the Windows Client Agent installed along side the Open Files agent, or does it need to be uninstalled first?

Exchange writers would be the ones that make use of the VSS writers and not all open files.
