The ssid is broadcast. The Macbook network connection sharing is off. The ip address for the MacBook is assigned by dhcp.

Does it find any other wireless networks? If not , my guess is the card needs re-seating or the antenna connection is loose or broken. Does iStumbler detect the network: http://www.istumbler.net/ ?
