Question : Problem: How can I broadcast my webcam over an http server from my computer?

Ok so I have aprogram active web cam. And I want to Make my camera available for people on the internet to view it live. Ok so I used the ftp option first. I uploaded all the video data to my godaddy webspace, which was really slo. So now I want to use the http server option that the active webcam program offers. Ok so how does it work? Like whats the general idea behind http server from my computer? Do people type my ip address in the browser and then something pop up? Please help.

Do you have a cable/dsl router, or does your high speed modem connect directly to your PC. If you have a router then you will need to go into the configuration and forward port 80 to the internal IP of your PC, if you are connected directly, then you need to find out your IP (Start, Run, cmd ... then type ipconfig) ... You most likely have a dynamic IP that changes and if that is the case then you will need to use a service like dyndns.org so people can find your computer when your IP changes.
