Question : Problem: 3DES vs. DES

I have a BOVPN setup from the US to Jamaica.  We have DSL here and Sat Cable in Jamaica.  It's a manual IPsec vpn from a Watchguard 700 to a Linksys WRT54G VPN broadband router.  I was wondering if changing the settings from 3DES to just DES would increase the speed?

I doubt that it would make any noticeable difference. The satellite downlink is the delay factor..
Although, it really wouldn't hurt to try as long as your risk factors will tolerate the lower encryption..
