Question : Problem: Desktop PC - No Display
|
|
Hi! I'm trying to fix a computer - when I turn on the power, everything seems to power up fine, but there's no output to the display...
I tried an LCD and a CRT monitor, both VGA. Originally I had it connected to an onboard graphic adapter, and then tried installing a VGA card - both don't work. The monitor doesn't report a "No signal" message - it just stays black.
There are no POST beeps.
Any ideas ?

try changing the video card. If it doesn't beep should be the RAM, but not only. Old models don't. Connect a sure pci/agp video card. Still no signal? Check alimentation. IS the Cpu Fan Working? If yes, there remains the RAM, mainboard or cpu. Listen carefully the harddisk. If it sounds like his working (it makes a little sound) then the video card is ok and the problem remains at motherboard or cpu. If you don't have another cpu to check, might identify a bad mainboard by blooud up condensators. That's bad and it happens offen when bad ventilation is. Hope you can fix it. I aspect updates... Good luck, cheers.
