Question : Problem: External Display Connected to Laptop won't work
I have attached an external Apple Display to my PowerBook. When I close the lid on the laptop, the external display goes black. I have attached the mouse and keyboard to the PowerBook as instructed in the Apple manual, but it still won't work. Suggestions?

Isn't it supposed to power the system into standby when you close the lid -- this is the norm for laptops -- so the display should go black, whether the LCD screen or an external monitor. I think this is by design. So you have to find a way to move the monitor to the side, while the lid remains up. If you close the lid, it assumes you don't want to use the laptop, so it goes into standby (power-down) mode.
