Question : Problem: Chaintech 7vjl (Via kt400 + vt8235) board & Problems
|

I just built a new system. I have two fundamental problems.
1) I get this, as they say in the south, gawd-awful beep all the time. Its long and piercing and has nothing to do with the system speaker (b/c I unplugged it). I thought it may be the temp or something, so I checked the system temp, but only through BIOS (and its 50 degrees (F) below shutdown). I coated my processor (Athalon xp 2000+) before attaching the provided fan. Any idea what it is and how to shut it up (or fix the problem???)
2) I bought an ATI RADEON 8500 DV graphics card as well. It gives me some beeps when its attached. This board isn't listed as specifically supported, but that doesn't always mean anything. I thought the card to be bad (I took it to my local shop and that's what they thought), so I returned it and purchased a replacement. Same problem, which leads me to believe its my board. Any thoughts?
Thanks guys--

Some motherboards have a piezo speaker on them. The motherboard must be telling you something.
I will assume this beep happens before you load the OS.
First, go into the BIOS setup and choose the failsafe settings and save them. Then strip the system down to only the video card, all other I/O removed. If it still beeps, then remove the cables. If it still beeps, then you have a defective motherboard, which sound like a possibility anyways since you are having so many problems with video cards.
