Question : Problem: WinXP ScanShell 800N

I have an application that connects to a sacnshell 800n usb busniess card scanner. when I am logged in as an administrator everything is fine. but when users login as regular users it does not work.

Any ideas? could this be a driver issue or a security issue.

I need to be pointed in the right direction.

This sounds like it's related to user permissions levels to me. Most likely, to scan the user must have a security level of Power User or Administrator. Sounds like you're using XP Pro, right? Here's some steps to try:

Logged in as Administrator, change the user accounts to give them either Power User level of access to the computer.

You must also must change the security level of all of the files in the WinNT\System32 folder to give everyone access. To change the security level:

Right-Click Start Button -> Explore
Select the Windows or WinNT folder.
Right-click the System32 folder and then click Properties.
Select the Security tab. Set the access level to "full control" for the necessary user group.
