Question : Problem: Problem Installing HP4050N Printer on 2003 SBS

I am trying to install a network printer on our new 2003 SBS server. Since we are running XP Home edition on all the workstations, the server is being used for file sharing and storage.

I can add a printer all the way to the end until I hit finish. There is then an error message that the admin needs to install a new driver to the print server because "the current print driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks Win NT 4.0 or Win 2000 kernel-mode drivers."

We can currently access the printer through our NT server but are trying to switch over. The printer is on the network and is hardwired to the switch.

Any suggestions?

There are good technical reasons around driver design as to why you should not enable this, but if you have no choice the article describes how to change the policy.
