Question : Problem: Bittorrent and Airport?
|
|
Hi All,
I am running a Windows/Mac home network, mostly Mac. I am trying to work with BitTorrent for file transfer, but I seem to be stuck behind a firewall somewhere. I have been here:
http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Apple/AirPortExtreame/BitTorrent.htm
..and followed the instructions, and I still can't get the transfer rate above 3k/sec.
The BitTorrent status line reads "Online, maybe firewalled." I'm not running any firewall anything.
Any suggestions?

Bittorrent is likely to think your Airport qualifies as a firewall... what Bittorren considers a Firewall is anything between you and your Internet connection. Sometimes I get the same reading at home when connected to an Airport but if I connect directly my router is goes away.
Anytime you do ANY kind of Port Forwarding/NATing or anything that requires traffic to not go directly to your computer Bittorrent is likely to think you are firewalled, it's a generic designation, not a really specific technical one.
