Hi Everyone;
Recently, a nice Dell computer was given to me by the university for which I work, namely, Middle Tennessee State University. My original plan when I brought it home was to format the drive and load XP Pro SP2 onto it. In order to help accomplish this goal, I wanted to go into the BIOS and set the first boot device to be the CDROM drive instead of hard disk drive. While I can see the settings within the BIOS, I can not change or edit them. The BIOS must be protected for security purposes.
With this in mind, is there any work around to this dilemna so I can edit the BIOS configuration? Such information will prove instrumental in accomplishing the goals in mind for this pc. Once reloaded, I believe it will be a nice backup computer.
Any information regarding the logistics of removing security from a BIOS of a Dell pc will be appreciated.
Thank you
George
