Question : Problem: Problems installing GeForce 6200 GPU

Installing Albatron GeForce 6200 128MB PCI GPU on friend's HP Pavilion 500 XP Home PC.

Install card and boot the machine OK but no task bar is visible.
Install software and reboot.
See boot info and XP progress bar then blank screen. Screen is still showing green light.
Can shut down normally using the keyboard shortcut Winkey, U U.

Remove the card, reconnect the VGA to the mobo and it's back to normal.

It boots OK into Safe Mode with the new card installed.

I downloaded the latest driver and it's just the same.

Any ideas please?

Answer : Problem: Problems installing GeForce 6200 GPU

usually they will give you an adaptator with the video card, dvi to vga (this is free anyway, very small)

so if your card is sending the main screen to dvi, it is at the same time, a driver issue and a connection issue

the right drivers should not send main screen to dvi if there is no screen attached
but it is easy to bypass by connecting your screen on it with the adaptator
