Question : Problem: HTPC: poor picture with 50" plasma television

I built a HTPC but am having problems displaying the videos I've recorded on my Plasma television.

The pc has the following:
Processor: P4-2.4 GHz
System Ram: 3GB Ram
The tuner card is: Hauppauge WINTVHVR1600 DUAL Tuner 1183 PCI Interface
The video card is an: ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 512 MB AGP

The television is:
50" Panasonic Plasma model # TH-50PE700U

I'm connecting the video card and televsion with a DVI  to HDMI cable, the video is painful to watch.  Any idea how I can get a nice picture on the Plasma TV from my video card?

Thanks,
Brandon

Answer : Problem: HTPC: poor picture with 50" plasma television

So right click on your desktop and select properties. Click on the Settings tab, and experiment with different Screen resolutions. You may not be able to generate 1920 x 1080, but maybe a different selection will yield better results for your display.

Also, try clicking on the "Advanced" button and looking at the options in there... if you have special drivers for your video card, make sure they are installed and updated. Sometimes there will be TV-specific output settings. If the video card is nothing special, you may try also "forcing" different resolutions by unchecking the "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" check box.
