Question : Problem: Dual Monitor and SATA drive not working together
|
|
I currently have a dell optiplex gx270 that runs windows xp with 2.8ghz and 2 gigs of ram. I currently have 4 ide devices; 3 hard drives and 1 dvd rom, and i sata hd. I also have a radeon 9800 pro with 128mg ram.
I am trying to use the dual monitor set up, but when I do have the dual monitors working, the sata drive is not found. When I unplug the vga cable; I am using both the dvi and vga, it recognizes the drive. My pc is up to date. Any suggestions?

Maybe you are drawing too much power for it from the power supply. Optiplex GX 270 power supply is only 250-300W.
You have a lot on your system for it. Dell's are good, but really work best in their default config's because of the power supplies. Even the new ones are only 305W. Bummer.
