Question : Problem: Multimedia Audio Controller needed after reformat of harddrive and reinstall of windows - no sound

After I reformatted my harddisk and reinstalled windows xp sp3, I have no sound. I confirmed that my onboard sound is disabled in my bios. My multimedia audio controller does not have a driver and windows cannot find one. I went to Creative Labs website, let it detect my sound card which it did correctly and installed the drivers. The sound card drivers appear to be ok however I still dont have the multimedia controller and when I go into control panel-sound, I do not have any playback devices.
I have a DELL Dimension 4700, XP sp3, sound blaster live 5.1 digital model sb0220
