my modem is a conexant hcf v 90 56k data fax modem. can i download a new driver to make it work as a answer machine or do i have to replace the modem

its not software look on the modem for the fcc #  Find the maker of the card go to there web site look for the flash bios of the modem if they have one so it will make it DATA FAX AND VOICE if there is no flash  then it will only be data and fax
