Question : Problem: External USD HDD not working

Friend gave me his external HDD and it doesn't work. It used to for a few months without any issues.  When you plug it in, you can see it in device manager but not under the disk manager. Tried different USB ports, different PCs, different USB cables that I know work and still nothing. I'm guessing its dead at this point and I can reformat the drive, but any other things I should try?

Answer : Problem: External USD HDD not working

Remove the drive from the USB case and connect it directly to the PC. Check if you can use it then. If not, test it using the disk manufacturer's diagnostic utility, and if that fails also, then the disk is dead and has to be replaced. You'll find the manufacturer's utilities and other tools on the UBCD.
