Question : Problem: Citrix, can connect from inside, not outside.  Other Citrix can connect from outside

We are adding our 3rd citrix server.  They are not currently configured in a farm and each is independent of the other.  The first two work just fine.

We added a 3rd server, using Citrix Presentation Server 4.  We have a single published application.  We can connect to a desktop (Custom ICA) or the published application just fine from the inside, using the ip address of 172.xxx.xxx.41.  However, when we try to connect to the server from the outside using IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.010, we get a no citrix presentation server found.  We have set the default alternative address to xxx.xxx.xxx.010 on the citrix server.  From the ICA, we can telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.010 1494 and received the ICAICAICA reply.  If we do a custom, ICA connection or setup a new application set, with the xxx.xxx.xxx.010 tcp address and check use alternate address, the server name appears when we click the combobox.

To isolate the problem to the new citrix server, we modified our cisco pix to change the working xxx.xxx.xxx.009 address to point xxx.xxx.xxx.010 to the 172.xxx.xxx.40 server instead of 172.xxx.xxx.41 server.  We then tried to access the other server, that previously worked, and it now worked just fine with the 010 address.  We then tried to point the 009 address to the new 172.xxx.xxx.41 server and it still did not work when trying to connect to a new application set or do a custom ICA connection.  We change the working server back to the original 009 external address and it worked just fine.

Again, we can telnet the new, non-working server on port 1494 and browse for the server name but it then will not connect from outside the network.  It can connect just fine from inside the network.

This is a new 2003 box on an existing 2003 AD network.

Can any one assist us in determining why we cannot connect from the outside?

Can you confirm if the Citrix XTE service is started...?
Try giving the NetworkService local account read access to the root of the %systemdrive% fixed it. (files, folders and subfolders)
