Question : Problem: memory upgrade reccomendation
|
|
I have a HP pavilion zv5330us with 512 MB of RAM (384 with the 128 the memory card automatically takes) There are two slots, each with 256 in each, and I want to put a 1 GB (1024 same thing right?)...in one of the slots (taking the 256 out first of course :) I have read and read about what kind of memory to get....
Using Everest Home Edition this is what it says...
Field Value Memory Module Properties Module Name Infineon 64D32020GDL6C Serial Number 030AAE17h Manufacture Date Week 52 / 2004 Module Size 256 MB (2 ranks, 4 banks) Module Type Unbuffered Memory Type DDR SDRAM Memory Speed PC2700 (166 MHz) Module Width 64 bit Module Voltage SSTL 2.5 Error Detection Method None Refresh Rate Reduced (7.8 us), Self-Refresh Memory Timings @ 166 MHz 2.5-3-3-7 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) @ 133 MHz 2.0-3-3-6 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) Memory Module Features Early RAS# Precharge Supported Auto-Precharge Not Supported Precharge All Not Supported Write1/Read Burst Not Supported Buffered Address/Control Inputs Not Supported Registered Address/Control Inputs Not Supported On-Card PLL (Clock) Not Supported Buffered DQMB Inputs Not Supported Registered DQMB Inputs Not Supported Differential Clock Input Supported Redundant Row Address Not Supported Memory Module Manufacturer Company Name Infineon Technologies AG Product Information http://www.infineon.com/cgi-bin/ifx/portal/ep/home.do?tabId=1
On Crucial.com memory scan said this
Your Memory Your computer currently has 512 MB of memory installed; and will support up to 2048MB. Slot 1 256 MB Non-parity DDR PC2700 Slot 2 256 MB Non-parity DDR PC2700 You have 0 empty memory slot(s) out of 2 total memory slots.
That's 2 Gig's right? I think HP said it would support the 256 in one and a Gig in the other...
Also I e-mailed a site about Hyper-X memory and they said it was not supported by my laptop...
Bottom line...price is not a factor...I want to max out my memory with highest quaily modules possible...I do a lot of gaming and my laptop is really lagging up..
thanks...sorry for the long question...LOTS OF POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER!!!

Remove the cover from the memory sockets, so you can see if it is removable or not. Some notebooks do have RAM soldered to the board, but if you have to memory sockets where you can put RAM into, then you can use those slots.
