Question : Problem: Make Dual Core Work Properly

I have just installed a Dual Core AMD CPU into a Gigabyte MB model MA78GM-S2H. I am going to run XP 64 bit for the OS. I am new to the AMD Dual Core. What are the programs that I need to install that will make this dual core run as it should. I beleive there are 1 or 2 things from AMD or MS that are required.
Does anyone know what these are, where I can get them, and what they do? Thank you.
