Question : Problem: Disabling MacBook optical drive

I have a MacBook with a mechanically busted optical drive, and since it's not operational, I was wondering if there's any way to turn it off completely, so that it won't draw power from the battery. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer : Problem: Disabling MacBook optical drive

You would need to open up the the laptop and physically disconnect the power.  There isn't a way to disable power to the drive through the software.
