Question : Problem: Strange problem with midi keyboard and microsoft gs wavetable output

Hi,

I have a very strange problem with the following configuration:

Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
Midi device: Edirol UM-2ex
Keyboard: Roland A-37

I have no sound in most of the programs that are used to hear what I am playing on the keyboard. But if I try this program "RMCA Realtime MIDI Chord Arranger Pro" I can play with the midi keyboard and hear the sound on my laptop. Additionally, I have tried the program "Virtual Midi Controller Demo" and when I play with the piano keyboard I can see the notes being passed on the software and with the flag "Microsoft gs wavetable" as output. However there is no sound at all.

I have tried everything and still can't find a solution. The configuation I am using is Midi IN 1 (edirol) connected to Midi OUT A (keyboard) and computer midi out is set to "Microsoft GS wavetable" in every program but there is no sound expect for the program "RMCA Realtime MIDI Chord Arranger Pro".

Thank you very much for helping me with this.

I don't know why you are connecting midi back to your keyboard from the PC. This is only if you intend to use the MIDI set in the keyboard. If you just connect MIDI in and choose the Microsoft wavetable SW synth for the "midi playback" on both the windows mixer and your software, it should work.
