Question : Problem: Receive disk read error . Working fine minutes before

I moved my computer to another room. Upon restarting I get a disk read error. It was working fine minutes before. I can go to bios and the hard drive is recognized. My second drive is not. I opened the case and notice the connection for the 2nd drive was  partially off the ide cable so I disconnected it and the power to it.
I tried rebooting and still get the same error.

I have a older gateway computer with a athlon processor, 1 gb ram , seagate 160gb hd(1 year old) and a second wd hd 40 gb.

Answer : Problem: Receive disk read error . Working fine minutes before

I agree, this does happen.

I would try the drives as slaves in another computer or via an external USB adapter.

You can also run the vendor diagnostics,a nd if it is bad it may be under warranty.
