Question : Problem: A salesman is attempting to sell me this machine, is it worth it?

In work we have Dell Dimension 1100's with the following spec:

Dell Dimension 1100
Pentium 4 CPU 2.8GHz
256MB

A salesman is trying to make me a deal on five Fujitsu Siemens ESPRIMO's with the following spec:

Product Description Fujitsu Siemens ESPRIMO Edition P2511 - C 420 1.6 GHz
Processor 1 x Intel Celeron 420 / 1.6 GHz
Cache Memory 512 KB L2 Cache
Cache Per Processor 512 KB
RAM 512 MB (installed) / 4 GB (max) - DDR II SDRAM - 533 MHz
Storage Controller Serial ATA ( Serial ATA-300 )
Hard Drive 1 x 80 GB - standard - Serial ATA-300
Optical Storage DVD-ROM
Graphics Controller Intel GMA 3000
Audio Output Sound card
Networking Network adapter - Ethernet, Fast Ethernet
Power AC 230V ( 50/60 Hz )

In my opinion, its not worth upgrading considering the cost. I am correct or an missing something (as i'm not particuarly up with the latest chip technologies)?

Answer : Problem: A salesman is attempting to sell me this machine, is it worth it?

i'm with groote.

also, do you even need an upgrade? people buy new pcs like they will make something magical happen... do you sit and wait for huge reports many times a day etc.. if your PC does not hold you up or cause incompatbility with a program then there is little reason to upgrade except to say i have a new pc.

You are using the minimum required memory for XP, it should be a crime to sell PC with 256MB unless they only go online and read text.
