Question : Problem: Dell UltraSharp 1908fp w/ ATI Video Card :: Prefered RGB Settings for Max Color and Display Quality

Hello All,

I am waiting the arrival of 2 Dell UltraSharps 0908fps to be exact, (19" (f)lat (p)anels)). Running them dual.

I know the color quality (exactness) of these monitors is not exact. But I would like to get them to run near exact as possible.

For example, black should display black, and hex color codes should be displayed as intended etc - mainly because I am doing some print work, and I don't have much room for color error. (I know you're going to say wrong monitors for print!!, but please read on).

As you can tell. I am trying to acheive one thing. The most color accurate, clear, and crisp display possible (with the funds I have - not much!!) with these specific monitors.

I guess my main question is:

1) Are there recommended ATI settings for near perfect color display? Maybe specifically for this monitor I am using. Like R G B numbers? I know I can configure the ATI. ( I have not receieved the card yet). This is the card I order: 512MB ATI x1650 PRO AGP 8X Video Card.

OS: WinXP SP3
---
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000-G v4

I search Google for accurate RGB settings for specific monitors, and was unable to find anything that gave me a good table of settings.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance SOS

As you've already noted, these are not the best monitors for absolute color perfection -- but they're nevertheless good monitors; and are FAR less expensive than professionally calibrated monitors.

You can set them to be very good by following the detailed outline presented here for matching displayed color with printed output:  http://www.normankoren.com/makingfineprints1A.html
