Question : Problem: How to talk with modem trough DOS commands ?

Well, my modem says that there isn't dialtone. In effect, when I connect the modem to the line, all my telephones of that line doesn't go well. I mean the modem opens the line and don't hung it. I can connect if I get dial through my telephone and when there's dialtone I press the button connect of my Outlook Express.
Well, I need use commands to hang the line or to investigate what is happening with my modem (v.34 33.6) and why doesn't recognize dialtone.
For your information, when the modem is conected to the line (but PC is turned off and modem is turned off, too) nobody can call me. I need to disconnect the modem from the line. One week ago all was perfect.

Alas, probably a broken relay in your modem.  Try giving the command "ATH" either in a terminal emulator or in DOS by typing "ECHO > COMx ATH" with x being the com port on which your modem is installed.

If that doesn't work, I would guess that you have a bad modem.

Best,
