Question : Problem: LAN Printer
Looking for some pointers. My office has a HP printer plugged directly into the LAN. How can I set this up to control who prints to it, and how can I find out who has been printing to it? Is there a log file kept on an individual computer? Somewhere on the network? We are having a problem with porn and other unauthorized items being printed, and I am looking for some solutions to 1) stop it, and 2) find out who did it...

You don't mention the printer ofr server type but most HP print servers will allow connec tion restrictions. If you set the restriction to only accept print jobs from the server IP with the printer share and restrict the settings with a password. No user regardless of network or local permission will be able to add the printer. The other setting you may want to investigate is the Log Server available on most HP Print Servers.
