Question : Problem: Symantec Ghost and Microsoft SQL Server 2005
|
|
hello community -
I need to take a snaphot of a server running microsoft SQL Server 2005.
The tool utilised will be Symantec Ghost.
Does anybody know of any issues, problems, unknowns, risks.
I am planning to stop the SQL Services before cloning, or is this even necessary since I will boot into WinPE and then clone.
Any helpful planning, preparation tips to avoid disaster appreciated. Please help.

you only need to do a sysprep if you are going to deploy the image to multiple machines. if its just for a back up of the computer to be used in case of hard drive failure then there is no need to do a sysprep. and i really wouldn't run sysprep on a production system that is already up and running. its only for a new installation before any mission critical data is on the drive.
