Question : Problem: backup over the Internet
Hello,
I have a client who wants to back up data over the Internet to a server at his home, using his Business DSL line (he has static ip on both ends).
I was thinking that the most feasible way to do this is to create a vpn branch office tunnel between his office and his home.
I will then backup the data over that vpn tunnel.
At first, I plan on 'seeding' an external USB hard drive by copying all the data from his office server to a directly-connected USB drive, then move the USB drive to his home server.
After that, I will just run incremental or differential backups.
(I am thinking of doing incrementals, but have never had to restore using this).
Has anybody ever done this before?
What backup appliation do you recommend?
I prefer to use my 3rd party offsite backup solution, i365, but this client does not like recurring costs.
Thanks!
