Question : Problem: laptop claiming a boot config error, won't boot up

I'm getting an error message that says
file: \boot\bcd
status:  0xc000000f
info: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data

I've got a Bart PE but it's xp
and my recovery files are on the e drive of the laptop
I've got it booted up to to ultimate boot disk now but don't really know what to do from there
it is seeing the hard drives  c: and d:

If HP deliver their computers without an OEM OS install disk, then that's a real shame indeed.

Since you already have a legal copy of the OS installed, and you only need the disk for the purpose of repairing what you already paid for, I guess it will be legal to borrow one such disk from a friend, colleague or neighbour.
