Question : Problem: Boot error after installing Adaptec SCSI Card 29160LP

Hi.

I installed an Adaptec SCSI CARD 29160LP in a Lenovo M57p for connection to a HP tape drive. The PC has two SATA hard drives configured as RAID 1 (Mirror) using onboard Intel SATA RAID controller.
After installing the SCSI card the boot process halts after scanning the bus on the SCSI card. There is no error, it hangs with a blinking cursor. I've tried all settings in the PC and SCSI card BIOS to disable SCSI card boot but it has no effect.
The only way I can make it work is if I disable the RAID function!

Is it possible that the Intel controller in RAID mode can't coexist with the Adaptec SCSI card?

Regards, Ingi.

Answer : Problem: Boot error after installing Adaptec SCSI Card 29160LP

Possible, yes.

Try moving the SCSI card to a different slot.
Try it without the tape drive connected.
Try it without a tape in the drive.
Update the drives for both the Adaptec and RAID controllers.
