Question : Problem: Ugrading RAM on HP Pavilion 9795C

HP Pavilion 9795c Desktop running Windows 2000. Exixting Ram was two 64MB sticks in bank one and two terminators in bank 2.

Removed terminators and put in two sticks of 256MB RDRAM non ECC RAm in their place. System would not boot and beep codes were 1 short 3 short 3short 1short.

Then looked on crucial dot com and learned that this computer will only support a max of 512MB.

I then removed the two 256MB sticks that I had just put it and replaced the terminators.

System still will not boot and getting same beep code of one short three short three short and one short.

I also tried putting in the two 256MB sticks in bank one and leaving the terminators in bank two with the same result.

This is a four slot board of two banks.

Answer : Problem: Ugrading RAM on HP Pavilion 9795C

Looking at HP forums found this:

"The HP9795C has an HP OEM ASUS-P4T motherboard with Intel 850 chipset."

The manual is here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock423/850/p4t/p4t-107.pdf

Take a look (at page 14 you should see the jumper).

This all assuming is the same motherboard... Don't know how many modifications HP made... good luck!
