Question : Problem: Move Exchange Server

I have an Exchange 2000 SP3, Win2K SP3 server running off a XIOtech SAN.
The server hardware is coming off lease and I need to move it to a new
server.  Both are different models of Compaq servers.

Can I make a copy on the SAN (in case something goes wrong), run sysprep on
the server and then move the QLogic card to the new server, bring it up and
detect the new hardware?

This should be fine, but will work best if both servers are similar in spec - Smart Array controllers, multi processor, etc.

If you have any 3rd party cards installed in the new server you might need to install the drivers for these on the old server before moving.

I'd suggest reapplying SP3 and the latest Compaq SSDs

You might want to install the latest Qlogic drivers too, rather than use the MS drivers.
