Question : Problem: USB Devices no longer auto-install drivers
I recently purchased a Wireless laptop mouse and it does not get recognized like it should. I get the attached system message box. I am running XP professional that has been updated regularly.
I also purchased an Aluratek KVM switch that is also not working as it should.
How do I know these things should work? I installed an old, smaller hard drive into my laptop and re-installed Windows XP Professional and both devices work just fine. Except for the USB problem I like my current configuration and would really hate to have to reinstall the world.
Is there an entry in the registry that would stop USB devices from getting recognized properly?

I got no errors in device manager.
Well, I'm afraid this question is going to the query-cemetary like all the others before it. I finally bit the bullet and reformatted and started from scratch.
