Question : Problem: USB Devices no longer auto-install drivers
I recently purchased a Wireless laptop mouse and it does not get recognized like it should. I get the attached system message box. I am running XP professional that has been updated regularly.
I also purchased an Aluratek KVM switch that is also not working as it should.
How do I know these things should work? I installed an old, smaller hard drive into my laptop and re-installed Windows XP Professional and both devices work just fine. Except for the USB problem I like my current configuration and would really hate to have to reinstall the world.
Is there an entry in the registry that would stop USB devices from getting recognized properly?
Answer : Problem: USB Devices no longer auto-install drivers
I got no errors in device manager.
Well, I'm afraid this question is going to the query-cemetary like all the others before it. I finally bit the bullet and reformatted and started from scratch.
Thanks anyway guys.
