Question : Problem: Should I use UTP or STP CAT6 solid wire?

I will be running many home runs of CAT6 cable down to a distribution panel, switch, etc. in the basement.  I've decided to use solid wire as opposed to strande wire, but I don't know whether I should use UTP or STP (unshielded or shielded twisted pair).  There will be power cables (standard 110V, most circuits 15 or 20 amps), but I don't know if they're going to be a source of much interference.  Also, STP is a little more expensive, so if there won't be any difference at all, I'd prefer to use UTP.

Should I use UTP or STP?

if I were you, I'd stick with fiber....

Just kidding....

I used basic UTP Cat5E for my house.  I've have not noticed any interference from power cables (running directly parallel for some distance, and directly adjacent at times when going through the same hole in a floor joist for example.)
