Question : Problem: Vista Microphone not recognised

I have Vista Home Premium on an Intel 915 Mobo with High Definition Audio, but I cannot get the microphone to work, or be recognised, I've downloaded latest chipset and realtek codecs and anything else vaguely relevant but speakers are fine - no microphone.

Finally, I installed a Soundblaster Audigy card with the latest Vista drivers from Creative - still no microphone - the speakers and SPDIF input are recognised, but no mike or line in.

I've tried 3 headset mikes and a stand alone mike.

I have very little hair left ;-(

Answer : Problem: Vista Microphone not recognised

Have you tried this?

1. On the bottom right (system tray) find the volume icon.
2. Right click on the volume icon and select recording devices.
3. A list of recording devices pop up.
4. Find the input your microphone is connected to, select it, and either use Set Default button or right click and select Set Default.

Good luck
