Question : Problem: Sound Tinny/echoing. Voices faded and speeded up

I rarely use my home computer for sound, usually just surfing etc.  Started listening to a song on Pandora and my sound was tinny/echoing and all the vocals were "chipmunky" and very faded. Recognized I had heard this earlier on a Youtube video and had blamed it on the video. Checked drivers, settings for card. Same problem through speakers and headphones. Am stumped and thought I would ask you guys before I bought a new sound card.

Multiple possibilites.  First try running a music CD in your computer and test.  See how it sounds.

Possible speaker problem, possible sound card problem possible bitrate issue or the file you are trying to play may all be at fault.
