Question : Problem: Switching from DVi TO VGA

I have on DELL optiplex GX160 with both a DVI and VGA adaptor. I was using a DVI to VGA adaptor so that i could use my normal VGA monitor,,,,(connected to the DVI adaptor on the DELL optiplex)...but i decided to use the normal VGA adaptor on the Dell so I just plugged the monitior onto the VGA adaptor but the power light on the mointor keeps blinking (green) and the monitor is blank....How do i get it to work? All i want to do is tsop using the DVI and duse the normal VGA.

Then the add in graphics card must be removed from the system in order for the onboard to work.
