Question : Problem: Monitor and KVM switch compatibilty
|
|
I have the following: Monitor: Acer AL2216WD Input Signal: VGA (Analog), DVI-D (Digital), HDCP Maximum Resolution 1380 x 1050 I currently use the VGA cable but will be getting a Digital Video card and changing to DVI-D
I would like to get a KVM switch and am currently looking at the D-Link DKVM-2K a mini 2 port which only supports the following: The DKVM-2KU supports VGA, SVGA, and MultiSync monitors at up to 2048 x 1536 resolution
Are they compatible??

Not if you want to use DVI-D. This is a digital signal and no doubt dual link as well. VGA is analog which the KVM you posted supports. The two are not compatible. If the video card is DVI-I then it would support an Analog signal and an adapter from DVI-I to VGA could be used.
