Question : Problem: Active Sync WM5 PPC -> Exchange 2003
|
|
I have a new Verizon PPC 6700 running WM5 that I'm trying to sync with our Exchange 2003 server. I haven't found the solution to my problem to get my 6700 Syncing with Exchange yet.
At first when I couldn't sync, I assumed it was our self made certificate so I talked my IT department into upgrading to the Thawte certificate (which was in the default list on my device).
I still couldn't sync and we discovered that we had a path error with oma and that the https://mail.mti-interactive.com/oma link didn't work properly (although https://mail.mti-interactive.com/exchange worked). So my faithfull IT manager reconfigured oma and now https://mail.mti-interactive.com/oma works perfectly. Using PIE on the device I can hit that URL, log in, and have no errors.
But when I try to hit the same server via wireless sync in activesync, I get errors. One issue is that I've never been certain exactly what data active sync wants in each field.
Under Configure Server:
Server Address: mail.mti-interactive.com require SSL encryption is checked.
User Name jgoldberg (I've also tried [email protected], either works on my PC hitting the web client for exchange).
Password: I use the same password I use to log into oma via pie, or exchange on my desktop client.
Domain: mtisrv02 (the internal name of the server on our LAN). mtimis (the internal doman name) moandted.org (a non-registered internal domain name).
Most combinations of those settings put me in an endless loop of "enter your correct password", but one combination:
mail.mti-interactive.com jgoldberg mtimis
Gives me an error:
Code:
Result: The server you are synchronizing with is not an Exchange Server, or is running incompatible software. Choose configure server on the ActiveSync menu to specify the correct server. Support Code: 0x85030022
The about link in OMA returns the following info:
Outlook(R) Mobile Access Server: MTISRV02 Outlook(R) Mobile Access Server, Microsoft(R) Exchange: 6.5.7638.1 Outlook(R) Mobile Access Server, Microsoft(R) Windows: 5.2.3790.0 Outlook(R) Mobile Access Server, Microsoft(R) .Net Framework: 1.1.4322.2300 Mailbox Server: MTISRV02 Mailbox Server, Microsoft(R) Exchange: 6.5.7638 User Mailbox: jgoldberg Rendering Format: html32 User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320)
My IT manager is very helpfull but not super farmiliar with OMA or PPC devices. Any thoughts about what could still be wrong with my config? I love this device and am desperate to retire my blackberry as soon as I can get e-mail working (even if it's not full push email).
