Question : Problem: Laptop won't install/recognize wired optical mouse

I'm working with a Dell Lattitude D630 and trying to use a basic Dell USB optical wired mouse with it, when I plug the mouse into the laptop it does nothing, it wont attempt to add new hardware, or even recognize the mouse being present.  The BIOS currently has the Touchpad being enabled when a serial mouse is connected, but I've tried all three settings in there.  Also I've attempted to add new hardware with no luck as well.  Any ideas?

Answer : Problem: Laptop won't install/recognize wired optical mouse

Step 1.We have to confirm whether the mouse is good. Try plugging it in another Laptop/PC and make sure that it is working fine. If the mouse is not detected in other PC also, then mouse has to be replaced.

Step 2. Have to check the USB ports of your Laptop. Try any USB hardwares like Pen/Thumb drive,USB printer/Scanner etc.. any..   and check whether Your USB ports detects the particular hardware.

Try this and please post the results. and we can help you sure.
