Question : Problem: Memory upgrade t0 1gig (rambus)

I have a dell dimen 8200. I have 4 slots- I have two open, i want to add memory- the computer was built in 2002. I purposly bought it to upgrade it. I do not run too much on it- Adobe CS2 is what I have been running the last year and the computer is slow in response. i want to upgrade to 2 512 memory chips...however do I HAVE to go thru dell.. its so expensive.. can i go with another company- samsung, kingston- someone else?

I just checked their site and you'll also need to know if the model you have is a 400 or 533Mhz bus. I also checked the price and that particular model is extremely expensive. 1GB for the 8200 is almost $600 - normally it's $100 or less. Because of the specific model you have, you might be better off replacing the system. Crucial is typically about 1/3 the price of Dell memory and they make much of the Dell memory. They will also give you all the specs if you want to look elsewhere, but I don't think the other generics will be much cheaper.
