Question : Problem: Dell 3007 Laptop Max Resolution 1280x800
I have a Dell Precision M90 Laptop with an NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M graphics card. (driver version 8.4.2.9) I recently purchased a Dell 3007 monitor to use in Dual mode with the laptop. The monitor is connected to the laptop docking station with a Dual Link DVI cable. When I view the display properties, the monitor has a max resolution of 1280 x 800. I cannot go any higher. I know my graphics card has a max res of 1920x1200, and I would be happy if that resolution was displayed on the 30 inch screen. I downloaded and installed the driver for the 30 inch monitor, which didn't seem to help. Is there any way to increase the resolution? I know that the maximum resolution requires a Dual Link DVI output, but can I display 1920x1200 on the 30 inch with the graphics card I have? As far as I can tell, they don't make any Daul Link Graphics cards for laptops, except for the PowerBook Pro. Any ideas?

Without dual link-dvi the highest resolution the monitor will support is 1280x800. Even with Dual link DVI the monitor only supports 2 modes 1280x800 and 2560x1600. There is one other system I know of with dual link dvi the new Dell xps m1730 does have a dual link dvi port.
