Question : Problem: Error when installing USB storage devices, device may not function properly
|
|
When connecting a USB storage device to any of the USB ports, the system recognizes the device in the task bar, however it then states that there was an error installing the new hardware and that it may not function properly.
USB storage device is then not accessible in Windows Explorer / My Computer or Disk Management, but does show under USB devices in the Device Manager with a yellow exclamation mark. Under Properties it states that the device cannot start.
This happens with every external USB plug & play storage device.
We have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, to no avail.
Help urgently needed, as I stand idle without my external storage devices!!!

Thank you very much for the support..somehow the USB storage devices suddenly work again after restarting for the xth time! We have no idea why, but we will leave it at that, keeping your suggestions in mind if the problem occurs again. Sorry that I can't give the points award to anybody now, but I will do so if your suggestions come in handy in future.
