Question : Problem: Using a UPS with Printer
We have four printers, two HP DesignJet 5500's and two HP DesignJet 5000's. We have issues where we are right now with the power flickering on and off (due to construction, and some 'mistakes' they've been making.) This has raised the question, what can we do to prevent 13 to 16 foot banners from being stopped halfway through? (That's A LOT of time wasted)
I had read that using UPS's with printers can cause damage to the printers due to surges of power. I can't seem to find anything saying that we shouldn't use UPS's with these printers, but that doesn't always mean it's a good idea. Anyone else out there have some HP DesignJets hooked up to UPS's?

A UPS is supposed to prevent surges while preventing a shut down on loss of power. I'm currently running 6 different printers, 2 laser, 2 deskjet, 1 dot-matrix and 1 dye-sub professional photo printer on a UPS, with no problems. I won't run my equipment without one. I've never hard of a UPS being the cause of a surge.
